NOT INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE
- Airfares. (Flights are available from approx. $1500 from the US and $1100 from Europe.)
- Transport to/from the Airport. (We have a preferred supplier who we would recommend.)
- Travel insurance, including cancellation and medical insurance.
- Visas if required.
- Accommodation:
- Limited accommodation (light breakfast & dinner included) is available at the training venue.
- Accommodation outside the venue but within walking distance can be recommended, this would typically exclude meals.
- PTGA Assessment fees.
- PTGA registration fees. (Done directly with the PTGA.)
- Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages
- Personal clothes and items of a personal nature. A packing list will be provided.
- Personal excursions and shopping.
TRAINING FACILITIES
The training facility for most of the courses is about 1 hour west of Johannesburg. It borders on the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens, the second largest (300Ha) botanical gardens in South Africa, where we will do some of our practical training in the Fundamentals of Expedition Guiding course and Wilderness First Aid course.
It is also close to Kings Kloof where we will do some of our practical crevasse rescue training.
The training facility has a communal kitchen and laundry facilities.
There is a beautiful outside garden bordering the botanical gardens where it is easy to record up to 30 species of birds in a few hours.
The boating practical training will be held at a venue about 90 minutes from the head office. Transport from one venue to the other is included.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is available on-site at the training venue at $50 per person per day. The venue is located within a secure residential estate. There are shared bathrooms, communal kitchen, and laundry facilities, with a beautiful outside seating area overlooking the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.
Accommodation is also available within walking distance of the training venue. We are happy to assist with recommendations.
FOOD
Tea, coffee, juice and water be available at all times during the day, with a muffins/scones served during the morning tea break and a light snack available during the afternoon tea break. Delicious seasonal fruit will be available all day. A hearty and healthy midday meal will be served.
Breakfast and dinner are course goers responsibility. Those that have opted to stay onsite it is included in the accommodation cost.
Any different/extra requests we can easily have it delivered to the training venue at your own cost.
Please let us know of any special dietary requests. Vegetarian options will be included. For Halaal, Vegan, gluten free and lactose intolerant diets, we will do our best to accommodate this but there may be a surcharge for our caterer. Unfortunately Kosher requirements cannot be accommodated.
Food allergies/intolerances: Please communicate any food allergies or intolerances and we will do our best to accommodate them. There may be extra costs to cater for gluten/lactose intolerant diets.
SHOPPING OPPORTUNITIES
There are grocery stores close to the venue and a very large shopping centre (Cradlestone mall) a few kilometres away, so you will be able to pick up anything you need, or we can have it delivered to the venue.
