WILDERNESS FIRST AID – POLAR MEDIC COURSE

Become a polar medic. This is not your average Wilderness First Aid course, it is an advanced first aid course dealing with scenarios that you are most likely to deal with on expedition ships, where evacuation by helicopter is not normally an option. This course is designed for the expedition guide who will be the first responder on shore, on hikes and very often be required to assist the medical team onboard.
After completing this course, you will be comfortable assessing the scene and patient, providing treatment and securing and transporting the patient according to the latest internationally recognised protocols.
A Wilderness First Aid certificate is a requirement of most companies and the Polar Tourism Guide Association.

International Trauma Life Support – Duty to Respond certification.
To add value to this course we are including certification by International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), the second largest international trauma training organisation, recognised in 35 countries and run on 7 continents. ITLS is the only pre-hospital trauma program endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).
ITLS courses combine classroom learning, hands-on skills stations, and assessment stations that put learning to work in simulated trauma scenarios. Each ITLS course includes an evidence-based course manual with in-depth content written and edited by trauma care experts based on current research.
Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa CPR and AED Certification.
We also include certification from the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa for the Basic Life Support components, which are based on the 2020 American Heart Association resuscitation guidelines.
